Compamed / Medica trade fair in Duesseldorf, Germany: Liveo Research AG launches One-Material Tray (OMT – The Circular Tray™)
Basel, November 17, 2025 – At the Compamed / Medica trade fair in Duesseldorf, Germany, Swiss packaging specialist Liveo Research AG is presenting an innovative new development for packaging medical devices: the “One-Material Tray” concept, or “OMT – The Circular Tray™” for short.
It consists of a thermoformable PET film that can be used both for the packaging body (“tray”) as well as for the sealing film. The sealing film itself is fully printable and features easy opening utilizing a ‘peeling mechanism’.
An additional unique feature of this one-material packaging concept is its improved environmental performance. The packaging is easier to recycle, and the concept can also include post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET. This makes OMT – The Circular Tray™ a truly circular solution with the potential for a significantly lower carbon and overall environmental footprint compared to conventional multi-material trays.
